5 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted   July 30, 2010

The set up of this product was very overwhelming but my SIP provider had very good instructions on how to make it work with their system. After the installation was done, this product has been flawless. I would recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars not as advertised   July 30, 2010

To start, when the product was received it was a PAP2T and not a PAP2T-NA as ordered. When I called Amazon to corrent the order and issue an exchange, they did, and I received the same NON NA model again. (I did warn Amazon to check what they were sending.) [I called my VOIP provider, they asked me to look on the case, and read me the part number, I did - they did warn me time and time again they do NOT work on the part number without the NA.

This product states it's LAN port is 10/100 FULL duplex. On all three of my switches it only would only connect 10/HALF.

I bought the Grandstream HandyTone 502 and could not be happier!

4 out of 5 stars Great Product - Worth the money!   July 20, 2010

I bought this item twice. I bought one from Ebay and one from Amazon. The one I purchased from Ebay was counterfeit--even though it was advertised as being legitimate. The counterfeit unit died after 1 month of usage. I purchased the same unit from Amazon and it has been working perfectly ever since. You may think you are saving 10-12 dollars purchasing from Ebay, but in reality you are purchasing a headache. I was able to get my money back, but it was a difficult process.

Pros
The setup is fairly easy.
Works as advertised.
If you have SIP info from Magic Jack you can use this pretty easily.
Great product all around.
Sound quality.

Cons
Cannot do hash md5 on it.
The green leds. Doesn't match my router.

4 out of 5 stars Above average results on a budget   July 10, 2010

I had no experience with VOIP service, other than the free and wonderful Google voice service. The challenge was to receive calls on an analog phone that could be used without my computer turned on. just before the Gizmo5 project went into a google induced hibernation, I grabbed an account and spent some number of months wondering what to do with it.

The Linksys/Cisco PAP2-NA was the answer. After some initial configuration head scratching, calls are reliable, crisp, and clear. I had mine running in two hours just following the readily available written (already posted) advice on the Internet. If you fear configuration, and don't know the first thing about routers and computers, I am going to suggest that you buy your VOIP from a service. But if you are open to adventure, ALREADY have gizmo (not currently available), then this unit will provide free and stable incoming telephone service for you.

Mine came unlocked, fast and as promised from Amazon. If you want to do what I have done make sure you buy an unlocked VOIP unit. I have heard that more recent locked (I.e. For specific services) units are difficult or even impossible to satisfactorily unlock.
