Great Headphones small Cons July 20, 2010 C. Karter I really like these headphones. I have been keeping my eye on them for a while. I go through about 6 headphones a year, and they usually break because they get caught on something.
I use them with my iPhone 4 and find that they work quite well. As of 4.0.1 only the next and back buttons don't work, but those are suppose to work in 4.1.
I use them for running and just lounging about.
PROs
- Nice controls
- light weight
- 6 hour batter gets through most days
- make phone calls as well as listen to music
- comfortable* (smaller ear piece connectors)
- good sound (not amazing, but its wireless)
Small cons:
- Sometimes drops signal in wide open spaces, eg fields (Bluetooth limitation)
- Larger more sound blocking ear connectors are uncomfortable, small ones are very comfortable but do not omit a lot of external noise.
- can bounce a bit when running on rough terrain
Suggestions for sony, make the material (casing, less stiff and more bendable, would assist in bouncing etc), forming ear piece connectors would be better then the multiple different sizes offered.
Good, but could be better. July 2, 2010 Cory R Hula At first, I really didn't care for these at all. There were lots of signal drops and I couldn't believe this was how bad a product this was. I tried to return them to the amazon vendor, but they wouldn't take the open package because it had been damaged (you know these annoying form-fit plastic containers that must be totally wrecked to get in them). I decided to keep them an figured out the problem with all the drops was because the headphones were trying to pair with my blackberry and once I got it to stop, they worked fine (mostly). Indoors they work great. Outside, they seem to drop the signal constantly and I won't even use them. But I figured that was not my primary use, so I wrote this problem off.
My biggest qualm is that the bluetooth transmitter connected to my ipod drains the ipod battery fairly quickly and the ipod must be recharged. To do this, you must remove the bluetooth transmitter from the ipod and plug it in and wait for it to charge - I find the time waiting for the ipod to charge to be ideal for listening to music, which I cannot do unless I have a pair of wired headphones. I thin this could be fixed by adding an input to the bluetooth transmitter so you could listen and charge at the same time; however, not knowing the tech spec of these devices, perhaps this isn't possible. What say you, Motorola?
The sound quality sounds muffled to me at lower volumes and I usually have to set my ipod to treble booster or bass reducer. This may just be more of a factor of the ipod and the quality of the recordings I listen to.
The headphones can get a bit uncomfortable after wearing them for awhile (1 hour or more). Perhaps I have small ear canals for the ear buds. Extra varied sized ear-buds would be nice.
I recommend shopping around a bit and if you can "test drive" competing products to see if some of these issues have been resolved by other manufacturers or possibly even Motorola.
BOTH headsets only lasted 2 months each... June 29, 2010 B. Welter (Milwaukee, WI USA) I was very excited to have this headset, for it was highly rated on [...] for bluetooth headsets. Sadly, after only 2 months of use, the buttons began to beep and not respond... Because I enjoyed being cordless during my workouts, I thought maybe I just had a "lemon" and opted to pay another $169.00 for the same model. But once again, after only 2 months of everyday use of approximately one hour, the headset became unresponsive to my inputs and began beeping every 2 seconds (the headset beeps when a button is pressed to signify your inputs such as an increase in volume).
Maybe sweat was short-circuiting the unit... It's too bad because this would have been a great headset if it was built better!
Don't buy it if you sweat a lot June 28, 2010 Ash (New Jersey) I was very happy to receive this Gadget from my wife as a Christmas Gift. The device had everything what you would expect from a Stereo Bluetooth headset. It is made solid (I will come back to my two star rating in a moment). It sounds excellent. I use it with my Nokia E71 to talk as well as to listen to the music when I run. On the right side, it has buttons to pause the music and change tracks. On the left side it has buttons to change volume and mute. All this comes in very handy when you are running. Perspiration damaged the device within a month. The volume control buttons stopped working. I sent the headsets for warranty repair. Motorola sent me a refurbished pair promptly. Within a few weeks the replaced device's buttons stopped working. The sound was still operational. I did not mind changing the volume and the tracks from my phone device itself. Last week that came to a halt too, when the headset stopped working entirely.
In a nutshell, you would need this rather expensive Stereo Headset only if you run, otherwise wired headsets will do just fine (and they are much cheaper). Sweat WILL DAMAGE this device. So, don't waste your money, and please post any other recommendations you may have for sweat proof Bluetooth Headsets.
Wireless headset June 8, 2010 Cynthia Buck I am a runner and I really like the quality sound and no cords while running. I use it with my Ipod and it was pretty easy to get connected to the Ipod. However, the quality of the overall headset has a lot to be desired. I have only had this a short time and the stickers that go over the volume and other features keep coming off. Now I have lost one and after repeatedly trying to keep it on. If the manufacture could improve the overall quality, I would highly recommend this.
