Great unit! September 5, 2010 RAW I got this at a great price and with free shipping. The unit works just as advertised.
Best Bluetooth yet! July 13, 2010 Rick Yeager (Phila, PA USA) After owning a number of Bluetooth headsets I had almost given up finding one that actually works well. The 975 works very well. The sound quality is good both ways. Set-up and discovery with my Palm Pre was easy.
My unit came as OEM packaging and did include all pieces that are listed in the retail package. It had 3 ear tips and the battery charging holder.
I had a Plantronics 655 which worked Ok except in noisy or windy environments. I also had Jawbone 2 which sounded hollow on my end and did not do well unless the tip is pressed against the jaw to sense jaw vibrations.
I have had the 975 for a while and it is working great. Callers don't know that I'm on my headset any more. It seems to do well when I'm driving and when I'm outdoors. The range is longer than any Bluetooth I have had before.
The only thing I would change is the ear tip options and adding an ear loop stabilizer, even though it doesn't really need it. I prefer the old Jabra type shaped ear tips. That being said this unit is comfortable in my ear unless I wear it for prolonged periods like over two hours. I'm used to using an ear loop and am surprised that the 975 doesn't fall out. I find that I don't have to jam it in my ear, like I thought I would, to keep it stable
I have noticed that the microphone boom must be pointed directly towards your mouth for the best sound quality and for outside noise canceling to work properly. This is certainly logical and could be a reason that some users wouldn't get proper operation.
way to large to put in ear....painfully big! June 29, 2010 nm mom (Southeast New Mexico) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
After doing all the reviews and checks I chose this bluetooth because of the good reviews on CNet and other places. I am so sad by it now that I have it. The sound quality is great, the ease of use is great. BUT How does a person use it when the smallest tip is way to small to fit in their ear...It hurts to jam in there and then when you do get it in there it pops out because that little peace makes it pop out. I am so sad. I knew I had small ears because the ear buds I use are always the small size, but the smallest earbud choice on tips works so I figured the small would work on the bluetooth too. My husband used the large tips on earbuds and the small on the bluetooth just barely works for him it is a tight fit for him too. This disappoints me. if you use small earbuds this won't work for you at all! sniff sniff cry
wind and traffic noise cancels conversation June 27, 2010 John R 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
the only blue tooth ear piece I've ever used which does not come out or feel like it's going to come out. very good service from the distributor. when I received, I knew I needed the large ear piece. the distributor sent me three more large ear pieces at no charge. they did not have to do that. does not really work on the street if there is wind or traffic noice. fine in the car. voice recognition is OK but definitely improves with time. I would buy again.
Surprise! June 9, 2010 E. A. Roper III 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
After receiving the headset I discovered what "OEM in Bulk Packaging" really means. This means that this headset does not include the extra battery charger pack, with LCD charge level indicators, that provide the ability to charge the headset when external power is not readily available. Additionally, there is only one earpiece adapter included instead of the usual small, medimum and large adapters included with the origional retail version of the Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth Headset.
This item did not include the features I was looking for.
