T-Mobile Services

  • High-speed data connectivity via T-Mobile's 3G network: In addition to its quad-band GSM connectivity, this phone is also compatible with T-Mobile's UMTS/HSDPA 3G network, which operates on the 1700/2100 MHz AWS spectrum. This phone is designed to automatically connect to the best available network (3G or GSM/GPRS/EDGE) to provide faster data speeds when accessing the Web or downloading content from the T-Mobile Web2go content portal. T-Mobile is currently rolling out its 3G network, and it expects by year's end that its high-speed data network will be available in those cities where a majority of its subscribers currently use data services.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the via T-Mobile's EDGE network (which stands for "Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution"). This high-speed, mobile data and Internet access technology is fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services (with average data speeds between 75-135Kbps), including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.

While this phone is optimized for use with T-Mobile’s high-speed 3G network, many of its functions will also work well on the moderate-speed EDGE network. If you plan to access the Internet extensively on your phone, 3G network coverage may serve you best.

Activities that work well on EDGE or 3G networks:

    • e-mail, instant messaging, and texting
    • Downloading ringtones, CallerTunes, wallpaper, light data files
    • Sending photographs via e-mail or picture messaging
Activities that work best on a 3G network:
    • Viewing content-heavy websites (lots of images or videos playing)
    • Viewing YouTube and other video files (they will play on EDGE, but require loading time)
    • Uploading large files (photos, videos, presentations) to sharing websites
    • Downloading large files from an e-mail or a website

3 out of 5 stars sony not all that great   May 6, 2010

I have the sony ericsson equinox cell phone from T-mobile since March. for some reason the phone was rejecting my incoming calls, T-mobile sent me another sony ericsson equinox phone and it did the same thing no one at T-mobile knew what was going on with the phone.

I called sony, the magnet in the case that I had my cell phone in was rejecting all my calls.

Beware of the magnet on your case.

it's a cute phone, not worth $180.00

5 out of 5 stars Impressive battery life   April 28, 2010

My previous phone was a Razor (Motorola). Its battery usually lasted for three days. This Equinox lasts 6 days. Impressive!
If you are looking for a regular phone (not a smart phone), this one is almost flawless except for the inconvenience of the built-in shortcut keys that cannot be changed (Someone has already written about this in his review). Other than than, I am very happy with this phone.

2 out of 5 stars Not All Features Work with T-Mobile units   April 20, 2010

So the Nokia 6263 I bought new at a T-mobile store went bad in one month, took it back got a second one exchanged, had to send THAT phone in 8 times in less than one year? We don't carry that Nokia anymore (LIE) I found out later, so I upgraded to a Nokia 7510, NICE phone, but it failed three times in less than one year, and once I sent it in, no water damage no outside damage, but I get my exchange 7510 and in one month its bad, they then say we don't have any 7510's so upgrade to Sony Ericson TM717 Blackface, well I have had it less than a MONTH and the Video feature went out, just stopped working, and here's an interesting thing, you know that "Preview" feature most ALL other phones have after you write a text message, its listed but GRAY lettered out, no preview on the units T-Mobile sells?

Have to wonder who trains their repair tech kids, because I have friends that have had the same phone for five or ten years, but every phone from T-mobile including this SonyErisonTM717 equinox has failed, NOW one must suspect they are buying up "Seconds" or cheaper models to sell like they are FULL FEATURE phones at T-Mobile on the hush hush..

On that Nokia 7510 last repair where they sent me a bill for $109.00 dollars, I wrote them and said, show me the PROOF, they write back and say "We get a verbal report, nothing written down now, on every phone, my phone they said had hidden damage, and so I had to pay them NOT!

I sent them a certified return receipt and a Arbitration form certified and said "Bring it on KIDS" the rules pf Evidence has NOT changed in California, YOU have no proof of what you stay was wrong with my phone, there's no water damage or outside damage like a bad drop, were supposed to TRUST you? YEAH, that will be the day"!

This kid BEN at the "Office of the President" calls me and talks like he's doing me a favor refunding me the MONEY they unlawfully charged me, the kid is an ego tripper and spends to much time out on the golf course.

I called him to provide me with a PROOF of PURCHASE, because the Nokia People require that in order to avoid what they call an out of warrenty phone fee of $58.00 dollars and t-mobile customer service can't provide you with a Proof of Purchase to give Nokia repair what they require for the phones they sell T-Mobile to sell us consumers. I'm writing the attorney general for this rip-off company trust me. BE careful of what Sony phone you get, because T-Mobile is a fraud model and NOT full featured trust me.

I keep TWO phones because one is always going out. SOON when I have some extra time, I'm going to file a civil action on these bunch of crooks and liars selling fraud products as NEW when they know there seconds and NOT the full feature phones sold by Nonia or Sony, that's my working LEGAL theory folks.

3 out of 5 stars No battery life   April 7, 2010

Nice phone, but it advertises 10 hours talk time and 16 days stand-by battery life. I've had the phone for 48 hours, talked on it a total of three hours and have already had to recharge it twice. I'm looking into a battery replacement and hopefully that will solve the issue.
